That creamy flavor of coconut can be a great partner to the sharper green taste of fresh wheatgrass juice. Today’s recipes are featuring wheatgrass along with coconut, and other assorted goodies.
Remember to juice the wheatgrass before adding it to the smoothie! To answer everyone’s question “can you blend wheatgrass in a blender” – the answer is unequivocally no! It’s simply impossible for a blender to extract the essence of wheatgrass out. You will basically waste this precious resource and just blend it into fiber with no nutritional value! All it takes is 3 minutes to juice a shot of wheatgrass in the Healthy Juicer.
Tropical Coconut Wheatgrass Smoothie
This particular recipe uses a mix of fruit along with wheatgrass juice and coconut water. It’s light and very refreshing on a hot day when you want to think of the beach.
- 2 cups pineapple (crushed, diced or chunks)
- 1 small banana (chopped)
- 1 oz shot of fresh wheatgrass juice (Healthy Juicer)
- 8 oz coconut water
For a thicker smoothie, you can freeze your banana chunks first. Otherwise, just peel and go.
Combine everything in your blender, and give it a whirl until the fruit is smooth enough to your liking. It makes one smoothie.
Creamy Coconut Wheatgrass Smoothie
You can also get a creamier texture to your smoothies by using coconut milk rather than coconut water. This is a good one that blends sweetly with wheatgrass juice.
- 3/4 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, plain or coconut
- 1 oz shot wheatgrass juice (Healthy Juicer)
- 1/2 banana, chopped in chunks
- 1 large green apple, peeled and chopped
- 1 cup ice cubes
Depending on your blender, you may want to work with crushed ice rather than cubes, but that’s up to you. Otherwise, just mix everything together and blend until smoothie-perfect. Again, this recipe will make you one serving of smoothie.
Fruity Coconut Smoothie with Extra Green
For the serious juicers who have various green veggie juices ready and waiting at smoothie time.
- 1 oz shot wheatgrass juice (Healthy Juicer)
- 1 oz shot spinach juice (this can also be juiced on the Healthy Juicer by the way!)
- 1/2 oz kale juice
- 1 banana, chunked
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup any other kind of frozen fruit (blueberries, mango?)
As usual, just toss everything into the blender and and blend until you’ve reached the right level of smoothness. You’ll probably get 2 smoothie servings out of this recipe.
A Blue Green Smoothie
Ok, not all wheatgrass juice smoothies have to actually be green. Add in a few blueberries, and you’ve got yourself a blue smoothie instead.
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 banana, chunks
- 2/3 cup frozen blueberries
- 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 shot wheatgrass juice (Healthy Juicer)
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1 tbs honey (optional)
Of course, you can also make this fruity smoothie with fresh fruit rather than frozen if you prefer. Frozen tends to make it thicker and keeps it super cold after the blending. Anyway, blend until smooth. You’ll get 2 smoothies out of this one.
A good juice smoothie is a perfect way to start your day off with some excellent and tasty nutrients at breakfast, or you can whip one up whenever you need a little extra boost.
